Cloud & AI Infrastructure Engineer
Cloud and AI Infrastructure Engineer with over 20 years of experience spanning the full arc from physical Unix data centres to modern multi-cloud and AI-native platform environments. One of the first 10 employees at Sourced Group, I joined at inception and grew with the company through its expansion across Australia, Canada, and globally before its acquisition by Amdocs in 2021 — building teams, delivering at scale, and shaping how cloud infrastructure is designed and operated across Finance, Telco, Aviation, and Healthcare.
// career history
A principal engineering and leadership role defining and delivering the Cloud Platforms service line within Amdocs Cloud Studio. The role combines product strategy, go-to-market leadership, and hyperscaler partnerships with active technical involvement — building solution prototypes, proving architectures through working deployments, and taking direct engineering ownership through to implementation when engagements are won.
Responsibilities
Key Achievements
A technical pre-sales and solution architecture role owning the full sales lifecycle for the ANZ Professional Services division. Beyond architecture and documentation, the function involved building working prototypes, running live demonstrations, and proving solutions in real environments — with direct involvement continuing through implementation when engagements were won.
Responsibilities
Key Achievements
A dual-capacity leadership role combining people management, business operations, and active delivery as a Principal Consultant. The function was accountable for the health, growth, and output quality of multiple delivery squads across APAC and globally — while contributing to the strategic direction of the Sourced practice during the transition into Amdocs post-acquisition.
Responsibilities
Key Achievements
A senior hands-on delivery role embedded within enterprise client environments, responsible for the architecture and engineering of AWS-based cloud platform solutions. The function provided direct technical ownership across infrastructure design, IaC, security controls, and platform strategy — working alongside client engineering teams to build production-grade cloud foundations at scale.
Projects
A senior delivery role responsible for designing and building cloud-native infrastructure on AWS for enterprise clients across healthcare and media. The function covered end-to-end ownership of platform architecture, network topology, IAM, security controls, CI/CD pipelines, and operational readiness from initial design through to production handover.
Projects
A senior technical delivery role embedded within the Qantas engineering organisation, responsible for building and evolving the AWS cloud platform that hosted critical airline systems. The function spanned platform engineering, configuration management, cloud security, observability, and source code security — working alongside Qantas engineers to modernize the foundational infrastructure underpinning the airline's digital operations.
Project: Qantas Airways
A senior consulting role deployed in Toronto as the founding technical presence for Sourced Group's Canadian market expansion. The function delivered cloud platform and configuration management solutions for major financial institutions, while simultaneously establishing the regional team structure, engineering standards, and client relationships that formed the foundation of the Canada practice.
Projects
The founding Sourced Group engagement — a senior consulting role delivering the "On Demand Platform" for Australia's largest bank. The function combined hands-on engineering leadership at significant scale (4,000+ VMs) with a major training and enablement program, establishing IaC and CI/CD practices across the CBA engineering organisation and laying the foundations for Sourced's growth as a consultancy.
Project: Commonwealth Bank of Australia
A technical leadership role managing the Linux infrastructure estate that underpinned Tradition's global electronic trading and brokerage platforms — covering FX, Equities, Energy, RMDS, and Swaps. The function combined hands-on systems engineering with a deliberate mandate to modernize the organization's operational practices, shifting from reactive manual administration to an automated, code-driven infrastructure model.
Responsibilities
Key Achievements
A senior infrastructure role within Macquarie Bank's EMEA operations, responsible for the core Unix and Linux platform supporting Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC), HR, and Corporate Operations. The function acted as the regional infrastructure lead — directing shared services including DNS, LDAP, storage, and backup, and representing EMEA requirements in the bank's global UNIX architecture and planning forums.
Key Achievements
A senior member of the global UNIX support team managing a distributed estate of approximately 1,000 Solaris and Linux servers across EMEA, APAC, and the USA. The function operated within a "Follow the Sun" on-call model to ensure 24/7 availability for production investment banking systems, with a specialist focus on Veritas storage foundation and clustering technologies and the global identity and access management estate.
Key Achievements
A senior Unix administration role embedded within the Ericsson-managed infrastructure program for Hutchison Telecoms, responsible for designing and building greenfield technology stacks that powered two distinct brands: Hutchison Telecom and Australia's first national 3G network, 3 Mobile. The function rapidly escalated to team leadership — overseeing a 12+ person engineering team delivering production systems across billing, content management, BSS, and OSS during a period of significant data centre expansion.
Key Achievements
A field-based enterprise engineering role responsible for the on-site maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of HP's enterprise Unix server fleet across NSW and ACT. The function served clients across Banking, Aviation, Healthcare, Insurance, and Higher Education — acting as the primary technical contact for hardware incidents, upgrades, and architectural transitions for organizations running mission-critical HP-UX environments.
Responsibilities
An early engineering role providing day-to-day administration and support of the bank's core data warehousing and leasing business systems. The function delivered hands-on technical ownership across HP-UX and Sun Solaris environments — from OS administration through to Oracle database support — within a high-availability midrange production context supporting the bank's data-driven operations.
Responsibilities
An early-career managed services role delivering technical support for the Colonial First State infrastructure account under the Advantra banner. The function covered Windows Server administration, desktop lifecycle management, and operational support for production banking applications — serving both front-office branch staff and back-office corporate users across multiple sites.
